Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is a Podcast?
  2. A podcast is a program delivered via the Internet. Like subscribing to the newspaper or a magazine, you can subscribe to a podcast. By subscribing to a podcast new content is delivered to you on a periodic basis without you having to check to see what changes have been made at the main website. In addition you can have your iPod, Zune or MP3 audio player subscribe to the podcast so that any changes or additions to the Green Pines Baptist Church Media website are downloaded. Freely available programs such as iTunes (Recommended) and Winamp support podcasts.

If you are currently using other media player software you can use Juice Podcast Receiver and it will download all of the sermons into a library automatically. Then just point your media player software to that library and you will be able to listen to them all.

  3. Are Podcasts and the sermons free?
  4. Yes... by all means. Please feel free to download the sermons and send them to your family, friends and co-workers. All of the sermons are simple MP3 files that can be saved to your hard drive and emailed to others.

  5. How do I suscribe to a Podcast using iTunes?
  6. Subscribing to a podcast using iTunes is very easy. Once you open iTunes, look on the main tool bar at the top of the application (it should have menu title such as File, Edit, Controls...). Click on the Advanced menu and click on the Subscribe to Podcast as shown in the following picture.

then a new window will pop up and you will enter in the following URL.

    http://www.greenpines.net/media/rss.php?feed=sermons

  7. Why do I only see the last 5 sermons in my podcast?
  8. By default when you subscribe to the podcast, you will only see the 5 most recent sermons. If you would like to change the number of sermons that you see in your podcast you can edit the URL to the podcast. Add to the end of the URL the number of sermons you would like to see in your podcast subscription. In the following example, the URL listed will return the first 10 sermons in your podcast.

    http://www.greenpines.net/media/rss.php?feed=sermons&count=10

The following URL example will return all of the sermons

    http://www.greenpines.net/media/rss.php?feed=sermons&count=-1

  9. How do I save a sermon to my computer using Internet Explorer or Firefox?
  10. All you have to do is right click on and a menu will appear. If you are using Internet Explorer select "Save Target As." If you are using Firefox then select "Save Link As." You will then be prompted where on your computer you would like to save the file to. Select the directory and the filename. By default the name of the file is sermonDDMMYYYY.mp3 where DD is the day, MM is the month and YYYY is the year.

  11. What type of files are the sermons?
  12. All of the sermons are MP3 that have been copied from the DVD. All sermons are encoded mono 24KHz/32kbps.

  13. I still have problems! Who can I ask for help?
  14. Please send email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
